Serra Cafema Camp Namibia

Hidden within the enormous Hartmann Valley, overlooking the languid rapids of the Kuene River surrounded by the lunar-like infinity of the Namib Desert, Serra Cafema Camp is one of the most remote and surreal destinations in all of Africa and provide a calming ambiance; guest fall asleep to the sound of rushing water, while by day they explore one of the driest deserts in the world.

Serra Cafema is intimate, luxurious camp that shares this region with the OvaHimba who continue their nomadic life of old. It gets its Portuguese name from the mountains that dominate the northern skyline. The camp’s eight canvas and thatched rooms are raised off the ground, each with its own en-suite bathroom. Attention to detail, elevated decks and simple structures of wood create a camp that is at one with its surroundings. An intimate, luxurious honeymoon chalet has possibly the best view of all. The Ozonganda, or main area, comprises dining areas, sunken lounge, river bar, library and swimming pool. Activities here are many and varied, including nature drives, guided, eco-sensitive quad-biking, seasonal boating on the Kunene River, walking in remote valleys and enjoying breathtaking landscapes. Serra Cafema is often visited by the nearby Himba families, providing guests with the opportunity to learn about their lifestyle and traditions.
